PRESTON PUBLIC UTILITIES NOTICE OF UTILITY RATE INCREASE

At the regular Public Utility Commission meeting on December 8, 2020, the commission approved rate increases for the electric and sewer utilities. Electric base and kWh charges will increase 1.5% for all users. Sewer base and use charges will increase 6.25% for residential and commercial sewer users and 3% for industrial users. These increases will be effective February 1, 2021. The average residential customer will see an increase in their monthly utility bill of $1.07 for electric and $1.84 for sewer. The reasons for the rate increases are proposed capital improvements to the electric and sewer systems. For more information, please contact the PPU office at 507-765-2491.

Average PPU residential customer is billed for 538kWh of electricity and 3,021 gallons of water/sewer usage per month based on billing statistics for the twelve months ending November 30, 2020.

Electric – 1.5% rate revenue increase

Residential customer base charges and use (kWh) charges will increase 1.5%

Commercial customer base charges and use (kWh) charges will increase 1.5%

Industrial customer demand charges and use (kWh) charges will increase 1.5%

Water – no increase

Sewer – 6% rate revenue increase

Residential and Commercial customer base charges and use charges will increase 6.25%

Industrial customer base charges and use charges will increase 3%

2020 Absentee Voting For Fillmore County Residents

Absentee Voters may vote In Person at the Fillmore County Courthouse located at 101 Fillmore Street W, Preston MN 55965 prior to the election.

An eligible voter may vote by absentee ballot in person at the Fillmore County Auditor/Treasurer’s office during the following times for the General Election:

  • During normal office hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • On the Saturday (October 31, 2020) before the election from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • On the Monday (November 2, 2020) before the election until 5:00 p.m.

You may also pick up an application for an absentee ballot or request one from the Fillmore County Auditor/Treasurer’s Dept. by calling them at 507-765-3811 or email them at elections@co.fillmore.mn.us

Emergency Medical Technicians

City of Preston EMS is currently seeking Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to join our BLS ambulance service.  Preston is located 35 miles SE of Rochester and offers exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities including fishing, hunting, biking and hiking. Job responsibilities include providing pre-hospital emergency care, cleaning and restocking equipment along with other tasks as directed.  This position will be required to be on-call 24 hour shifts Friday 6pm to Saturday 6pm or Saturday 6pm to Sunday 6pm with an hourly rate of $15/hr and will offer the flexibility to enjoy ample time outside of the station while being on-call.  Lodging arrangements will be provided as needed.  MN EMSRB licensed EMTs with prior EMS experience are highly encouraged to apply;  experience preferred but not required with 12-lead cardiac monitoring, IV, LUCAS mechanical CPR, electronic reports, and CEVO.  Preston EMS is currently hiring multiple openings to develop a pool of EMTs.  Click Here for an application  or pick one up at Preston City Hall, 210 Fillmore ST W, Preston, MN.
